Christie is an accomplished commercial litigator with more than twenty years of experience representing companies and individuals in high-stakes disputes in federal and state courts, at the trial and appellate levels, and in arbitrations and mediations. Her practice focuses on complex business litigation, professional malpractice defense, multidistrict litigation, antitrust matters, and domestic and international disputes requiring careful command of procedure, jurisdiction, conflicts of law, and litigation strategy.
Christie has spent her career handling sophisticated commercial disputes for clients across a broad range of industries and jurisdictions. She has represented parties in matters involving business torts, contract disputes, professional liability claims, antitrust issues, and complex proceedings requiring coordinated strategy across trial courts, appellate courts, arbitration forums, and mediation settings. Her experience includes both plaintiff-side and defense-side work, giving her a practical understanding of how complex disputes are built, defended, negotiated, and resolved.
A significant part of Christie’s practice involves cross-border disputes with clients, parties, assets, witnesses, and legal issues connected to foreign jurisdictions, including Venezuela, Colombia, Argentina, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Switzerland, Spain, The Bahamas, and South Korea. In those matters, she is frequently called on to address complex procedural and jurisdictional questions, conflicts-of-law issues, discovery across borders, and the practical challenges that arise when litigation within the United States intersects with international business relationships.

Christie began her career as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Alan S. Gold of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
In addition to her litigation practice, Christie has maintained a longstanding commitment to legal writing, mentoring, and the development of lawyers trained outside the United States. She taught legal research and writing for many years in the University of Miami School of Law’s Comparative Law LL.M. program and has designed and taught legal writing courses for foreign in-house counsel seeking to strengthen their English legal writing and communication skills. Her academic and professional background reflects the same qualities that inform her practice: rigorous analysis, precise advocacy, and a deep understanding of how legal arguments must be framed for different audiences and forums.

Representative Matters
Represented the Venezuelan shareholder of a Venezuelan, closely held company sued derivatively in a lawsuit regarding the ownership and administration of the company and its United States-based bank accounts. The derivative plaintiffs claimed fraud and unauthorized, international movement of company assets that affected their business interests. Christie and her team coordinated the Florida-based litigation with Venezuelan attorneys who were handling the Venezuela-based criminal and civil cases. The matter involved litigation of issues related to forum non conveniens, substantive motions to dismiss, fact and expert discovery, and a receivership over the United States-based bank accounts.
Defended a city commissioner and city manager in multiple lawsuits filed against them by plaintiffs who claimed that the commissioner, city manager, city, and other city employees violated their civil rights by weaponizing the city’s police and code enforcement departments to target their properties in political retaliation. Following multiple hearings, fact discovery, and motion to dismiss and summary judgment briefing, Christie and her team obtained voluntary dismissals of their clients. Christie and her team also handled spin-off litigation relating to insurance coverage disputes and the plaintiffs’ failed attempts to remove the city commissioner from office.
Defended the Venezuelan owner and former CEO of a Puerto Rican international bank, the CEO’s wife, and a Florida-based financial services company in a lawsuit brought by the bank’s liquidation receiver for fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and conspiracy. The lawsuit alleged that the bank’s owners and others drained the institution of tens of millions of dollars. Christie and her team coordinated their representation in the civil proceedings with the CEO’s counsel representing him in parallel criminal proceedings and successfully obtained a stay of the civil case. The team also obtained a dismissal of the civil complaint filed against the CEO’s wife.
Represented lenders in multiple disputes involving non-payment of substantial promissory notes. Christie negotiated and obtained favorable settlements in all of these matters, which often called for creative resolutions, including the satisfaction of debt through the transfer of property in the Dominican Republic.
Defended attorneys and law firms in multiple lawsuits by former clients alleging legal malpractice claims.
Defended a Florida hospital system in an attempted class action alleging that the hospital system maintained an illegal monopoly in acute care services and engaged in price fixing. Christie and her team successfully defeated class certification on several grounds, including that one named plaintiff was never a patient at the hospital and that the other named plaintiff made false statements about her out-of-pocket expenses.
Defended a physician group in a lawsuit filed by two physicians who claimed that the agreement between the physician group and Florida hospital system was anticompetitive and violated Florida’s Antitrust Act. After the completion of substantial fact discovery, Christie and her team mediated the lawsuit successfully.
Defended a Florida hospital system in a qui tam lawsuit alleging that the system engaged in fraudulent kickback schemes and violated the Stark Law. Christie and her team successfully obtained a dismissal of the lawsuit.
Defended a Florida hospital system in an antitrust lawsuit alleging that it monopolized the acute care market and inflated inpatient prices. Christie and her team successfully obtained a dismissal of the case.
