Richard Alan Arnold

Richard Alan Arnold is a nationally recognized trial lawyer focused on complex litigation, including antitrust cases for plaintiffs and defendants.

During his more than 30 years of practice, Richard has handled numerous individual plaintiff antitrust cases as opposed to class actions or mass actions. He also has represented opt-out plaintiffs in many civil antitrust cases that have proceeded parallel to or following the U.S. government’s criminal prosecution of international cartels. In addition to antitrust cases, Richard has played an active role in all of the firm’s cases involving the electronic payments industry.

Richard’s clients include public companies, entrepreneurial individuals, and privately held companies from a wide variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, vitamins, telecommunications, consumable commodities, banking, automotive, health care, and airlines.

Richard has been lead counsel in antitrust cases representing as plaintiffs an international tire manufacturer, the nation’s eighth largest vitamin manufacturer, major national retail pharmacy chains, major national retail grocery chains, chemical and plastic manufacturers, and international consumer products companies, resulting in gross individual non-class action recoveries of nearly $4 billion.

He has served as a special assistant attorney general in several states, both as prosecutor and as counsel, and formerly chaired the Ad Hoc Committee on Rules and Procedures of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Richard has written and lectured extensively on antitrust topics, including implied rights of action under the antitrust laws.

Before joining the firm, Richard clerked for the Honorable William E. Miller of the U.S. Circuit Court for the Sixth Circuit.
