SPERLING KENNY NACHWALTER HONORED WITH 2026 AAI ANTITRUST ENFORCEMENT AWARD
October 13, 2026 – Sperling Kenny Nachwalter has been honored with a 2026 American Antitrust Institute (AAI) Antitrust Enforcement Award in the category of Outstanding Antitrust Litigation Achievement in Private Law Practice for its $155 million jury verdict in In re Amitiza Antitrust Litigation.
The award recognizes the firm’s work on behalf of retailer plaintiffs in the case, which culminated in a five-week trial in federal court in Boston. The jury found that Takeda unlawfully delayed generic competition for its drug Amitiza, resulting in a $155 million verdict. The decision marked the first jury verdict against a pharmaceutical company in a reverse-payment antitrust case since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2013 decision confirming that “pay-for-delay” agreements may violate antitrust laws.
Miami partner Jonathan Stratton served as lead trial counsel, while partner Anna T. Neill has represented the retailer plaintiffs since the inception of the case and played a key role throughout the litigation. Other members of the firm’s trial team included partners Scott E. Perwin and Lauren C. Ravkind, counsel David Lesht, and associate Campbell Haynes.
AAI’s Antitrust Enforcement Awards recognize leading legal practitioners and economists for achievements in antitrust litigation. Honorees will be recognized at AAI Antitrust Awards Night 2026 on November 5 in Washington, D.C.
